AireSurf Networks Inc. products and services are designed to help clients take advantage of the wireless Ethernet (IEEE 802.11b) technology. This technology allows state of the art two-way communication with users via wireless hand-held devices as well as desktop computers both internal to the organization and over the Internet from remote locations such as the Head Office. Coverage throughout any building regardless of size is made possible by implementing wireless Access Points and the AireBoost Technology.

With wireless technology customers can immediately leverage:

Wireless LAN access
Provide cabled based solutions to wireless clients
Provide communication in areas traditionally not available to cable based systems

In-building wireless access for:

Laptop Computers
PDA
WLAN Telephones
Smart-Appliances
Streaming Video
Remote energy management
High-speed Internet access
Building/Facility management
Voice over IP (VOIP)

AireBoost is a new and innovative technology developed by AireSurf Networks Inc. AireBoost extends the wireless coverage of any access point by 10 times. The result is a highly available Ethernet network over an extended area at an affordable price.

Features & Benefits

  • Non-proprietary technology works with any wireless access point (Cisco, 3com, Intermec, Symbol, Psion, etc.)
  • Increase wireless range of any access point by 10 times the coverage and reduce hardware and installation costs
  • Proven end-to-end Security using Certificates
  • Power over cable technology eliminates AC power requirement in the immediate area; power source can now be 200 feet away, eliminating additional costs for electrical outlets conduit and wiring
  • Filter other bi-directional wireless communications eliminating unnecessary network traffic and saturation
  • True real-time diversity achieved by employing state of the art ultra high speed IC switch MPU controlled
  • Reduce the number of access points and reduce infrastructure costs, maintenance costs, support costs and points of failure
  • Leverage current Wireless Ethernet investments by redeploying existing access point coupled with the AireBoost systems
  • Seamless integration with existing cable based networks, gateways, firewalls and other applications
  • Virtually eliminate the ongoing installation and renovation costs of cable based networks

Product Specifications

System Capacity

  • This generation of AireBoost works with Access Point on the Market.
  • The access point (AP) auto-negotiates with connected devices and sets the data rate at the highest.
  • Add wireless capabilities without cumbersome and costly external converters.
  • Hardware-based packet filtering ensures fewer dropped packets, less network congestion and better overall performance.
  • By combining voice and data traffic over one wireless LAN mobile workers always remain accessible.
  • Integrated power over Ethernet solution eliminates the expense of installing separate power cables and outlets.
  • IP Tunneling with Seamless Roaming
  • Secure tunnels between client and access point switching to the nearest antenna to maintain signal strength
  • Full Manageability
  • Access points managed through feature rich industry standard management tools such as Tivoli, HP OpenView, or Intermec Mobile LAN Manager.
  • Security
  • Beyond using WEP key distribution to secure the WLAN it is designed to enable fast roaming and enhanced mobility provided by the access point.
  • Applications
  • Appropriate for manufacturing, distribution, retail, health care, hospitality, and property management. Transfer any amount of data, VoIP, streaming video or audio to any network-enabled device.

Typical Section Network Layout:

  • Connecting to the backbone there are Section switches that connect to access points using copper wire. Each section switch provides service to the floors by utilizing a 24-port switch.
  • The access points on every second floor connect to the amplifiers using 50 Ohm cable.
  • The antenna connects to the amplifier with the appropriate cable sets.

Access points on every second floor provide the high availability, redundancy, bandwidth, and scalability with the option of implementing 802.11a access points when required.
